You're the DJ: what are the next five songs coming up after the break?

"Cooler Heads" - Local H
When skimming a magazine (or book or newspaper) do you flip through the pages from front to back or back to front?
Submitted by enSue.
Depends on the mag (and how many inserts it has). More and more, I'm finding myself reading back to front.
What was the worst job you ever had?
Submitted by salaryman.
Wal*Mart cashier. For reference, Wal*Mart toy department - not that bad. Check-out cahsier - horrible.
It was college, I was working three jobs at one point. Who hires inexperienced college kids with flexible hours? Uncle Sam (Walton).
Working in toys, it was monotonous but a perfectly respectable slack college student job. Pick up toys, put away toys. Answer phone calls from rabid mothers looking for the latest "it" toy. After Christmas, they didn't need me there, so I was moved to where they always need people: Check out hell.
I would have $10,000 in cash in my register at any time. It was stressful. People were rude. People couldn't count their change. People would inevitably not have enough money to buy their Big Mouth Billy Bass. My supervisor called me 'honey' and 'sugar.' Not in the nice Southern way.
After moving to check-out, I got out of there as fast as I could. That's probably where my overwhelming aversion to Wal*Mart started. Now I can't even go in one without having breaking out in hives.
How do you eat your pizza: folded, flat or with a fork and knife?
Submitted by danimass.
Totally depends on the pizza. Deep dish usually requires a fork and knife. Cheap-o frozen pizza can be eaten by hand. The extra large slices from downtown vendors must be folded.
We've gotten big into the crispy thin crust pizzas of late. Medium size slices, eaten flat. Too crispy to cut or fold.
What's your favorite radio station, past or present?
Ah, there have been many. Right now, it's KEXP, Seattle.
How many computers do you have in your house?
Submitted by Foomper.
We're down to 3! My iMac, Ginger's Powerbook and her HP laptop for work.
We parted with Ginger's iBook over the weekend, and mom finally has a Mac. Now she just has to get an internet connection.
How many pets have you owned in your lifetime? Tell us about them.
Submitted by jennajellopy.vox.com.
When I was little, we went through a series of cats. Toby was gray and white and liked to get on the roof of the house. I don't remember much about the others. They were outside only pets and we didn't really bond.
My sister had cats, a rabbit, a chicken and a pig.
Madison Milhouse (Millie), my basset was my first real pet. Ginger bought her as a graduation present when I was student teaching in Athens. She has separation anxiety, which got worse after we moved to Savannah and multiplied again after we moved to our new house. The vet now thinks she may have dementia, at the ripe old age of 8. We just had a new fence put in so she can spend more time outside, sniffing, digging and being a dog.
When Ginger and I married, I inherited Luca. I honestly do not like the cat. She bites, scratches and draws blood regularly. I've had to clean her litterbox since Ginger has been pregnant due to risk of toxo-whatever. It has not endeared her to me at all.
Let's make a list. What are 20 things in your life that you're grateful for?
Inspired by wyndslash.vox.com.
To make this not so sappy, I'm excluding Camille, Ginger, friends and family. These aren't the 20 most important things and they may or may not be in any type of order.
- Pampers Swaddler Diapers (they're the real deal)
- Our new fence - Millie has never been happier (recently, anyway)
- The window behind my desk
- Texas Hold 'Em on my new iPod
- My skill saw - Used it yesterday for the first time since I built the arcade cabinet
- Dale's marinade
- Newcastle Brown Ale
- Superfriends note cards
- A relatively clean bedroom
- Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood
- Clients paying their invoices on time
- Pacifiers
- Sheldon Moldoff's art
- The promise of a vacation
- Upcoming visitors
- The Onion Radio News
- Baby smiles (okay, I slipped this one in)
- Wifely understanding (sue me)
- Parking meters that take credit cards
- Cooler days ahead
What's the last thing you usually do or think about before you fall asleep?
Work. I'd say work is taking up a solid 70% of my pre-sleep thought patterns right now, with house/renovations coming in at 25% and everything else rounding out the bottom five.
And that may be why I'm having trouble sleeping.
Work's actually going great right now - as far as being busy and making money - but some of the added stresses are weighing me down a bit.
In happy news, I have the most beautiful daughter in the world AND we now have a fenced-in back yard. See ya later, basset hound.
