Camille (and Ginger) were recently on TV for a news package about car seats. The video isn't online (and we actually never saw it air) but you can read the story here and see a pic of Cams.

Instead of the time and effort required to write up a real update of what's been going on, I offer this:
Ginger and I hosted a going away party for Nikki and Andrew Friday night. It was the first time post-baby that we've had the courage to invite more than three or four people over at a time. It went well. We had too much food and refrained from having an open bar (it was there, but you had to know where to look), but other than that - we were proud of ourselves.
At our Halloween party two years ago, we had a projector outside hooked up to the Gamecube, so we could play Mario Kart on a 15 foot tall screen. This year, we plugged the Powerbook into our 42" TV via the DVI output (very nice) and had iTunes running for anyone to add to the playlist. The big hit was using our iMac as a photo booth, using the built in Photo Booth app. We got some great pictures, most of which involved Camille in some way.
Cami did great. She was very social and stayed up a bit past her bedtime. I think she had as good a time as anybody.
We're going to miss Nikki, Andrew, Nia and Nate horribly. We've already got a visit planned in December - and whenever we buy UGA season tickets, we'll need a place to crash. With that loss to Kentucky, those tickets just got a little cheaper. At least one positive thing will come out of this season.

Having Camille with us is wonderful. There's only been one real catch: She has her days and nights confused.
She sleeps all day, despite being lugged from room to room with us, being constantly played with, and the sounds of the city. At one point, the vacuum cleaner was on, the dog was barking, and she was taking a hit of direct sunlight and she didn't stir, much less wake up. But, from 2AM to 6AM, she is wide awake. Her eyes are almost completely round, she's so alert. And she cries. Mostly because she's bored, it seems.
My inability to sleep during the day has put a real hurting on my ability to function. I'm told this will pass, so any time now would be great.
Now that Cami's here, I've noticed myself becoming more attuned to my environment. For example, I want to remove the ivy from the outside of the house. Not trim, remove. It's too much work to keep up. I had our kitchen carpenters return and tidy up some work I wasn't happy with. I'm constantly evaluating our surroundings, trying to make things more efficient, better, stronger.
The big problem is that I've decided our house is sagging. I need to get an inspector out before I lose any more hair over this, but I really think there's an issue. Visitors to our house know that there has been settling in the past (a room or two can get rather fun-house if you stare at the corners for too long). But, this is new.
So, keep your fingers crossed that Cami's new house doesn't swallow her up. Gotta break out the phone book and find an inspector, pronto.
We all got home yesterday and are settling into our new life with Camille. She's incredible.
